Jason "Malletman" Taylor, jazz recording artist and protege of the late, legendary Lionel Hampton, has a fresh and "explosive" approach to playing the vibraphone. He is a five-time Grammy ballot nominee who is known for his unique presentation of jazz, R&B and swing, creating a signature sound he calls "Vibrafunk." He is a dedicated music instructor and clinician who endorses for Yamaha, Sabian, Reunion Blues and Mike Balter Mallets.
"Malletman" has just released THE MALLET CODE, an instructional DVD that supports his purpose for keeping real music alive. In this tribute, Taylor honors his mentor's memory and legacy with tunes that will please the souls of Hampton's devoted fans, while also introducing some of the jazz master's most popular recordings to a new generation of music lovers and jazz enthusiasts.
Conveniently located in the heart of Times Square near Penn Station and Port Authority, B.B. King Blues Club & Grill offers music fans a unique experience. Owned by the Bensusan Family, proprietors of the world renowned Blue Note Jazz Club, the club features world-class musical talent and consists of two distinct spaces: the Showcase Room & Lucille’s Grill.
The breathtaking main space is classical in form and spirit: two-tiered, horseshoe-shaped seating (booths & tables) centered around a 30-foot stage presents up close and personal views of all performances. The 40-foot bar is a haven for the reserved listener. The atmosphere is enhanced with two 8-foot big video screens on either side of the stage.
