Event Details

The Institute for Faith and the Arts at Harding Academy and K-Love welcome Centricity Music recording artist Jason Gray to the Emmons Audtorium stage.

Join us for an intimate, acoustic evening with singer, song-writer Jason Gray as he shares stories and songs from his latest Centricity Music release, A Way To See In The Dark. "Author Frederick Buechner tells us that before we presume to proclaim the hope and the good news of the gospel we should look at the headlines of the day and acknowledge the worst of the world, otherwise nobody is going to believe the best of the hope we speak of,” Gray says. “With all my songs, I want to be conscientious of the person who feels like an outsider, excluded because of their pain. I hope by acknowledging difficulty, heartbreak, and pain that I can cast a line for them to hold onto and be drawn in.”

It’s Gray’s honesty and his willingness to explore both the valleys and mountaintops with equal candor that define his artistry and have made him one of the most compelling songwriters of his generation. While Gray draws from a deep well lyrically, what sets him apart musically is the diverse array of influences that make up his colorful palette. A Minneapolis native who has struggled with stuttering, Gray’s early years were filled with the pop sounds of Billy Joel and Duran Duran as well as the lyrical poetry of Simon & Garfunkel and the soul searching anthems of U2.

Institue for Faith and the Arts

The mission of the Institute for Faith and the Arts is to equip and inspire individuals to use their arts to share the Story of God and transform culture to the glory of God.

Hilary Brand and Adrienne Chapman state in their book Art and Soul, “More and more young Christians are going to college to study for a wide range of arts and media courses. They have the possibility of being bearers of the Christian vision in a culture which is still taking shape. To do so successfully they need a map which relates together Biblical faith, the nature of art and the emerging contours of a social era."

As instructors in a Christ-centered college-preparatory school, we at Harding Academy long to give our students that map to show them the way to take their faith boldly into all of our culture. The Institute for Faith and the Arts focuses on preparing our visual artists, musicians, actors and writers to be co-creators in their artistic fields for decades to come. To that end we will be providing lectures, performances and workshops by faith-filled artists who will inspire individuals to use their gifts to creatively bring the Story of God into our culture.
