In celebration of the life and accomplishments of legendary special effects and stop motion animator Ray Harryhausen, The Hollywood Section of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers respectfully invites you to a special evening presentation and screening celebrating the 1963 Columbia Pictures Release, Jason and the Argonauts.

Doors open at 6:00pm, Pre-show begins at 6:15pm
Introduction to Ray Harryhausen’s work, and the Movie begins at 7:30pm

See a special live demonstration pre-show of state of the art virtual live set and character motion capture, staged by Containment Field VFX, in conjunction with the “LightCraft Previzion virtual studio system”, for a special inside look at how today’s technology can assist the planning of visual effects that combine computer generated imagery and characters with live performances
Visual Effects and Animation Supervisor Randy Cook will introduce the feature with a discussion about Ray Harryhausen and the challenges of creating stop motion animation.
