Description

Filmmaker Felicia Harden-Bradford bravely chronicles her journey with breast cancer in this short film made about the day before she underwent a double mastectomy. After receiving news of the diagnosis over the phone, she wondered who would make egg sandwiches for her finicky youngest son if she were no longer there. January 30th is about a mother, a wife, a woman, and the decisions she needs to make to save her life.

Join us at the beautifully warm and outrageously delicious Sweet and Savory Cafe for a free screening and intimate conversation with the filmmaker and health professionals about the ways in which women need to begin sharing their stories of crisis, recovery and survival to encourage and inspire other women to be proactive about their health and lifestyle choices.

Learn more about the #OurSilenceIsKillingUs and #TheMonthAfter campaigns to raise breast cancer awareness among African American women after October and what you can do to support this important cause.

“January 30th” received high honors at the 2015 Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival and was a top ten finalist in the acclaimed American Black Film Festival (ABFF) this past June.
