CURE Childhood Cancer is dedicated to conquering childhood cancer through funding targeted research and through support of patients and their families. We believe a cure for childhood cancer will be found in our lifetime, and we know that research is the critical path to the cure. Because roughly 3% of federal funding is directed toward childhood cancers, CURE strategically focuses on research projects which are focused on the 20% of children who are not currently surviving childhood cancers. In 2013-2014, CURE will invest nearly $2.5 million in research we hope will one day lead to cures.
In addition to funding important research, CURE funds programs which directly support the patients and their families. These programs aim to address the critical and urgent needs of patients and their families, from the time of diagnosis through their entire journeys, and include one-on-one support, meals and fellowship in the hospitals, emergency financial assistance, access to licensed counselors, and much more.
