In India, China and many other parts of the world today, girls are killed, aborted and abandoned simply because they are girls. The United Nations estimates as many as 200 million girls are missing because of this human-rights abuse called gendercide.
Released in September 2012, this documentary film tells the stories of abandoned and trafficked girls, of women who suffer extreme dowry-related violence, of brave mothers fighting to save their daughters’ lives, and of other mothers who would kill for a son.
Global experts and grassroots activists speak into why this injustice persists generation after generation, and what we can do about it!
* A note on the admission price: While China is famous for its one-child policy and forced abortions, most people don't know China is the only country where more women commit suicide than men--about three times more. Every day, 500 women in China take their own lives. The price reminds us that every penny represents one woman in China who will take her life today.
