Art Chang has 25 years of experience with startups, including over 10 years in the New York City venture capital community. He is the Founder of Tipping Point Partners, an alternative to traditional venture capital with a methodology that reduces execution and investment risk, optimizes growth potential, and minimizes cash expenditures. Chang was a Founder or Manager in dozens of startups and his $1.5 billion in financial transaction experience includes enterprise software, grid computing, and interactive television. He serves on the New York City Campaign Finance Board and Chairs the NYC Voter Assistance Advisory Committee. As Chairman, Chang helped create NYCVotes.org, where users can learn about candidates and contribute to them, manage voter registration and find out where to vote. Chang has served on non-profit Boards at Safe Horizon and the Brooklyn Public Library and is an advisor to the Catherine B. Reynolds Fellowship for Social Entrepreneurship at New York University.
Ron Gonen is the New York City Deputy Commissioner for Recycling and Sustainability. He is the Co-Founder of RecycleBank and as CEO from 2004-2010, grew the company to service over 100 cities. RecycleBank was recognized with a number of awards including the Philadelphia Sustainability Award, The Conference of Mayors - Public/Private Partnership of the Year Award, and a Technology Pioneer award from the World Economic Forum. Gonen has been named by the United Nations Environment Program as a Champion of the Earth and a Henry Catto Fellow at the Aspen Institute. Gonen holds a patent for the development of technology and financial incentives in the recycling industry. He is a New York Chapter Director at E2, a member the New York Product Stewardship Council, and a term member at the Council on Foreign Relations. Gonen serves on the Board of Trustees of RARE Conversation and on the Board of Advisors of Daily Feats.
Matthew Burton is a technology advisor in Brooklyn. He has been in the government technology world for 12 years. He was recently the Chief Information Officer of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Prior to that, he consulted the U.S. Intelligence Community on issues regarding information sharing and virtual collaboration. In addition to working with government organizations, he also writes publicly about the effects of technology on governance and democracy. He recently launched a podcast, Let's Talk Calmly About Security and Privacy, to discuss the complexities of and potential solutions to the past year's domestic surveillance revelations. Maria Yuan is the Founder of IssueVoter. She has been a Campaign Manager for an open seat race in a swing district, a Legislative Aide, and has successfully lobbied a bill's introduction and passage. She has also worked as an Investment Banker at JPMorgan, in corporate development and internal strategy, and for the social enterprise San Francisco Conservation Corps, a former REDF portfolio nonprofit. Yuan has served on the boards of Gibney Dance and The University of Texas Co-Op, and was a founding member of Friends of the Children NY's Young Professionals Board. She has consulted to PlaNet Finance, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Urban Outfitters, and the Indian School of Microfinance for Women.
