Greg Downing of xRez Studio specializes in image-based 3D technologies and computational photography techniques. His photographic work has been displayed in several museums including the American Museum of Natural History, the Cincinnati Art Museum and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. He has worked in film production as a technical director at Rhythm & Hues as well as Sony Pictures Imageworks on Narnia, Spiderman 3 and I Am Legend. He teaches at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood.
Eric Hanson of xRez Studio is a Los Angeles-based visual effects artist, photographer and educator. He has worked with leading visual effects houses such as Digital Domain, Sony Imageworks, Dream Quest Images and Walt Disney Feature Animation and his work can be seen in films such as The Day After Tomorrow, Cast Away and The Fifth Element. As an Associate Professor at the USC School of Cinematic Arts, he leads their curriculum in visual effects.
XRez Studio is a digital imaging practice that explores the intersection of visual computing and digital photography. Helping pioneer ultra-high resolution gigapixel photography several years ago, xRez Studio applies emerging imaging technologies in disparate areas such as feature film visual effects, natural history, scientific visualization, digital dome and cultural heritage documentation. Selected works will be shown that illustrates the erosion and expansion of boundaries that digital technology affords the contemporary photographer.
