WHIIITE / BIO

Hailing originally from Pennsylvania, Chris White (a.k.a. Whiiite) moved to Southern California to study and pursue a career in filmmaking. While in film school Chris began collecting vinyl and DJ'ing as a further creative outlet. His early gigs included numerous art and fashion shows, and soon he started throwing his own events in the living room of his warehouse loft space in Downtown Los Angeles w/ local painters, designers and budding producers & bands. Soon after Chris began DJ residencies at two early tastemaker parties in LA's burgeoning Indie/Electro Dance Music scene (Le Disko where he opened for acts like Justice & MSTRKRFT, and Dance Right where Shepard Fairy (Obey) was also a resident.) Chris reached a point where he was playing over 100 shows a year and loved the life of a DJ, but he was still left wanting to make a bigger impact on the LA music scene.

Chris's creativity and entrepreneurial drive lead him to partner with his best friend and manager Ryan Jaso to create a new weekly club night called CONTROL at the legendary Avalon Nightclub in Hollywood. Now in its 5th year, CONTROL is one of the longest running weekly electronic dance music parties in America, and has hosted breakthrough early performances by the likes of Skrillex, Dada Life, Dillon Francis, Rusko, Hardwell, Porter Robinson, Zedd, Bingo Players, Wolfgang Gartner and more. CONTROL has a renowned reputation for being the place where artists such as these cut their teeth before reaching massive stardom.

As a weekly resident at CONTROL, Chris was able to play in front of huge crowds every week, but his creative side was still calling, and soon Chris began producing original music as Whiiite. Learning production skills from Skrillex himself (Sonny and Chris were neighbors in Downtown LA's warehouse district), Whiiite's music soon caught the ears of exec's at Interscope and Dim Mak who commissioned him to do remixes for La Roux, Nicole Scherzinger, PeaceTreaty, and Atari Teenage Riot. Whiiite soon followed with his first full EP of original productions, and has been continually cranking out blistering songs & remixes ever since with releases on a slew of labels including Interscope, Ultra, Firepower, Vicious, Jack Knife, Burn The Fire, and more, including remixes for Arty, Cypress Hill & Rusko, Nelly Furtado, Skylar Grey, and others. Influenced heavily by his eclectic multi-genre DJ background, Whiiite's productions span the gamut of styles, including electro house, bass music, trap, and future hip-hop. Big names in the scene quickly started to take notice of Whiiite's releases, and he quickly racked up a list of supporters that includes Skrillex, 12th Planet, Missy Elliott, Chuckie, MAKJ, Felli Fel, Gareth Emery, Danny Avila, Blasterjaxx, ETC!ETC! and more.

Not content to just DJ and produce music, Chris channeled his film, design & art background to take the Whiiite project to new heights with the creation of an original superhero graphic novel series that synchs up with each of his EP's to tell the epic story of Whiiite, his origin and powers, and the villains he faces. Each character in the story has their own dance music sound. Fans have come to fully embrace this visual aspect of the Whiiite project, and are elated each time a new issue or art piece is released online to expand upon the evolving story.

Truly a multimedia experience, Whiiite is the type of artist that defines 21st Century technology and culture, combining the auditory and visual mediums to create something truly new and unique for his fans and audiences all over the world.

BUKU / BIO

From the first glimpses of Robert Balotsky’s work as Buku, it was clear that the Pittsburgh native and graduate of Music Technology was onto something. With an effortless grasp on sound design and music theory, the young producer combines deceptively simple and emotive melodies, laden with resounding bass drops and intricate drum patterns.

With a love of drums rooting from childhood, his work reflects the obsession – emitting percussive elements only a trained ear could produce. Behind a kit since age 8, he followed the progression of handling duties for multiple bands throughout his adolescence. Once introduced to digital production, Buku took his techniques to stranger dimensions – he’s been pushing the boundaries ever since.

His early work has placed him at the forefront of a new wave of rising talent amongst East Coast producers. Garnering interest and plays from Starkey, Lunice, Paper Diamond, Shiftee, Clicks & Whistles, Kastle (to name a few) –the up-and-comer has been paving a promising road over the last year. With his debut release, ‘Slippy’ under the Slit Jockey imprint and a remix of Starkey’s ‘Command’ on Civil Music, Buku is poised to make much larger waves in the coming months: haters beware.
