Flashback once upon a time, in the west end of Toronto, when Keith Robertson and Dave Henderson found their digs producing for indie bands. One fine day, at the tender age of 17, burning smell of pine trees in the air, the duo aimlessly chatting about music and such [that we may or may not totally recall], popped in a Groove Armada CD only to find their true calling in dance music.

After working excessively and seemingly endlessly as producers for EMI in 2008, the duo called it quits. Hey, even Simon & Garfunkel needed a break from each other. Keith went on to working on an, I guess you could call it, electro-house EP while Dave’s project was a bit too intense for anyone’s own good. With common understanding, the two reunited later that year to form Autoerotique.

Autoerotique carries an infinite smorgasbord of sounds ranging from electro, to metal, techno, Dutch house with a dash of indie-rock, and pinch of ska plus everything in-between and tastefully serves them with every project. Their ambiguous, shape-shifting style boasts eclecticism and innovation.
They broke into 2009 like an unstoppable freight train and soon caught the attention of DJ/producer/label owner Steve Aoki. Shortly after signing with Dim Mak Records, Autoerotique made a stamp on the dance music world that would not be ignored with the release of their first official single – Gladiator. The single was later followed by remixes featuring the great DJ AM & Steve Aoki, among Klever, The Faint, and more. Hit after hit, Autoerotique rose in the ranks proving to be true contenders in this cutthroat industry gaining support from legends such as Tiesto, Benny Benassi, Laidback Luke, David Guetta and many more who paved the way for the two.
Along the way, Autoerotique blossomed like a rare and beautiful flower releasing remixes for said legends in addition to Skrillex, Diplo, Korn, Lykke Li, Shinichi Osawa, Chris Cornell & Timbaland, Fischerspooner, Weezer, and NERVO.

By 2011, if you hadn’t heard of Autoerotique, well, you just should have. Their debut EP, Freak, smashed the Beatport charts with their biggest hit to date, Turn Up The Volume. DJs and festivals took to it like a wildfire across the globe. And this is not even mentioning the popularity of its music video glorified for the infamous “cake-splosions”.
Autoerotique has since continued to prove time and time again they are not the ones to sleep on. With the release of their second EP, EKG, they continued to inspire DJs and music lovers alike with their out-of-the-box sound design.

But in all things Autoerotique, their latest work, Asphyxiation, would be considered their masterpiece. The track and its video counterpart are meticulously executed in a way that should require a precautionary label – grab your inhalers. Everything they were and everything they are breathes in Asphyxiation. From the iconic rises of Bubonic, rumbling bass of Turn Up The Volume, to the confusing, yet perfectly executed triplet mayhem of EKG – it’s all there in unison. The musically inclined minds of Autoerotique are always persisting to captivate industry buffs and fans alike perpetuating their increasingly global presence.
