Free AFTERNOON IoT workshop on the RESTful AT&T M2X Data Service APIs
Can't make it in the afternoon? Then come to our evening DevLab.
Are you a developer who is interested in the Internet of Things (IoT)? Would you like to be able to collect and retrieve data from Internet-connected sensors for applications in health, home, government, and industry through network and programming language agnostic RESTful APIs? Join the AT&T Developer Program for an afternoon coding workshop on the M2X Data Service. The M2X Data Service is a cloud-based fully managed data storage service for network connected machine-to-machine (M2M) devices. This will be an afternoon of learning and hands-on coding ("lab time"), including working with an Internet-connected sensor. Bring your laptops and leave with our APIs working from your own M2X account.
This workshop will be taught by AT&T subject matter experts and AT&T Developer Program staff. It is also a great opportunity to network with AT&T and your fellow mobile developers.
The event is free and we will be serving lunch. If you are an app or device developer working independently or with a company planning or already producing mobile applications and/or IoT devices then this is the event for you. Space is limited so register now.
Find out how carrier APIs from the AT&T Developer Program can benefit you and your app and device strategy. We look forward to meeting you!
Does an after-hours workshop better suit your needs? Then come to our evening DevLab training session that goes from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. -- same content, just a different time! You can register for it here.

Installing Postman and cURL for the Lab Exercises
The lab exercises use Postman and cURL so please install them before the event.
We will use cURL for the M2X API lab exercises but you can also use Postman (a free Chrome add-in) if you prefer. You can download Postman at http://www.getpostman.com and the Chrome browser at http://www.google.com/chrome.
For the lab exercises we will use cURL, a powerful command-line tool for making HTTP calls.
Pre-requisites: Windows 7 or later (cURL is already installed on Mac computers)
Use the following steps to install curl:
You should see the following message:
This means that curl is installed and the path is correct.
You should see JSON returned:
SSL certification error
If you see an SSL certification error, add a -k flag into your curl command.
https not supported error
If you get an error that says, “Protocol http not supported or disabled in libcurl”, then you need a different version of curl. Make sure you have downloaded one that says SSL enabled. If you have downloaded the Win64 version, try the Win32 version instead, even if you are on a 64 bit machine.
