Ticket limited to families and educators of girls attending this event. Ticket includes exclusive access to the Invent It. Build It. EXPO (9-11am), a hands-on engineering experience, an informational panel discussion and a chance to see what the girls invented (11am-3:30pm). T-shirt and lunch included. With this ticket you DO NOT need a GENERAL PUBLIC EXPO Ticket.

GENERAL PUBLIC EXPO Ticket (EXPO Access 11:15am - 2pm)
Ticket available for girls, boys and adults of all ages. This ticket is good for entry into the Invent It. Build It. EXPO during public hours (11:15am – 2pm) only. If you already have a GIRLS GRADE 6-8 Ticket, or a PARENT EDUCATOR Ticket, you DO NOT need a GENERAL PUBLIC EXPO Ticket.

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Girl Scouts, WGBH's Design Squad Global, Techbridge, and the ExxonMobil Foundation have teamed up for the 7th annual Invent It. Build It. event.

There are four ways to participate in Invent It. Build It.

  1. A hands-on engineering experience for girls in 6-8th grade
  2. A deeper dive into engineering for girls in 9-12th grade
  3. An informational and hands-on program for families and educators
  4. An EXPO to explore engineering in your community

1. During our hands-on, engineering experience for girls in grades 6-8The girls will...

  • Work with SWE members from around the world on hands-on engineering activities
  • Meet real engineers and learn what they do
  • Make new friends
  • Explore the Invent It. Build It. EXPO during exclusive hours
  • Get an Invent It. Build It. t-shirt, bag and lots of other goodies
  • Be eligible to win raffle prizes
  • Have lunch with the SWE engineers (lunch provided)

2. Our program for girls in grades 9-12 offers students a chance to...

  • Meet real engineers and learn what they do
  • Participate in conversations with SWE members from around the world about how to navigate a career in a male dominated field, how to select a the right college, where to find scholarships, and how to be a successful engineer
  • Work on hands-on engineering activities
  • Make new friends
  • Explore the Invent It. Build It. EXPO during exclusive hours
  • Get an Invent It. Build It. t-shirt, bag and lots of other goodies
  • Be eligible to win raffle prizes
  • Have lunch with the SWE engineers (lunch provided)

3. PEP: parents and educators will... 

  • Learn about engineering careers, scholarships, college admission and resources
  • Network with SWE members as well as other parents and educators
  • Participate in a panel discussion with select SWE members and outreach experts
  • Complete a hands-on activity and learn best practices for doing engineering with girls
  • Explore the Invent It. Build It. EXPO during exclusive hours
  • Have lunch with the SWE engineers (lunch provided)
  • Get an Invent It. Build It. t-shirt 

PLEASE NOTE: The parent/ educator program is separate from the events for girls.  Parents/educators will only be permitted to work with the students during Exclusive EXPO hours, or if a child has special needs.

4. EXPO: Learn about engineering clubs, camps, after-school programs, competitions from a wide variety of exhibitors.

The Invent It. Build It. Expo has two tracks:

Track 1: Exclusive EXPO Hours (9am - 11am) open only to those with a GIRLS IN GRADES 6-8 Ticket, GIRLS IN GRADES 9-12 Ticket or a PARENT/EDUCATOR Ticket.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have one of these tickets you DO NOT need an GENERAL PUBLIC EXPO Ticket.

Track 2: General Public EXPO Hours (11:15am - 2pm) open to girls, boys and adults of all ages.  You must have a GENERAL PUBLIC EXPO Ticket to attend during this time.

Tickets for girls (grades 6-8) and (grades 9-12) are $7 each (non-refundable).  

Pareent/Educator (PEP)Tickets are $5 each (non-refundable). 

Those attending the General Public EXPO from 11:15am -2pm may do so at no cost, but registration is required through this system.

 Lunch, an Invent It. Build It. t-shirt, prizes and other goodies are included for paid girls (grades 6-8), (grades 9-12), and Parent/Educator participants only.
