Introductory Android Class - October 12, 2010
Tuesday, October 12, 2010 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM (PDT)
To help programmers learn Android, Geogad will be presenting a series of introductory classes on Android.
The first class in the series will teach beginning programmers the basics of the Android programming language. This class covers the fundamentals of Android including
- Setting up Eclipse to create and run Android projects.
- In-depth look at a few Hello World-type projects.
- Lifecycle of an Activity
- Intents, Services and launch modes
- Android tools bundled in the SDK
- Techniques for debugging Android projects
This class is scheduled for Tuesday, October 12, from 7:00 PM to 10:00PM. The class will take place at Plug & Play Center in Sunnyvale.
Since this is a good bit of material to cover in a relatively short time, all students are required to have downloaded and installed Java, Eclipse and the Android SDK before arriving at the class. Students must already know how to program in the Java programming language on which Android is based.
Students can preregister for all 4 Android classes in this series for $100 per student. Preregistration for a single class will cost $30 per person. Because PlugAndPlay has on-duty security guards, students must register in advance for the class.
