Introduction to the Ruby Programming Language
Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM (CDT)
Come out and learn what makes Ruby an expressive, flexible and powerful programming language.
Although most famous for its use in the Rails web framework, the Ruby programming language has become popular by prioritizing the developer's time and ease-of-use. It does so by borrowing a "best of the best" set of ideas and features from languages such as Smalltalk, Lisp and Perl.
This course is an overview of language idioms and features intended for people with at least minimal experience in another programming language. This is not a Rails course, but is meant to provide enough Ruby knowledge to participate in upcoming Rails courses at Platform Houston.
Event occurs across two Saturdays, May 4th and May 11th, but there is not a way to represent this in Eventbrite without annoying you with a separate registration with a separate date.
Instructor: Paul Kwiatkowski
Optional "Get Ruby Installed!" gathering at 7:00pm Friday evening at Platform, to save you IT pain.
Note on registration: Email addresses will be used to communicate/deliver links to slides and supplemental course materials.
