Event Details

Restorative justice is about building relationships, open and honest communication, repairing harm, equal voice, respect, empathy and healing. This workshop will introduce the concept of restorative justice and present examples of how it is being deployed in Chicago today.

Peace circles are one example of this practice. They create safe spaces for authentic youth and inter-generational engagement. We will discuss this practice then form a peace circle. Come experience the power of the circle as we explore ways to build positive relationships and healthy communities through restorative justice.

Download an introduction to restorative justice from the Adler School's Institute on Public Safety & Social Justice.

The fee for this event is $10. Please register via EventBrite @ http://restorative-justice-9-23-14.eventbrite.com. You can post ideas and comments on the Facebook page we created at http://tinyurl.com/Intro-Restorative-Justice-FB.

About the instructor: Nancy Michaels is the Associate Director of the Mansfield Institute for Social Justice and Transformation at Roosevelt University.
