Habitat for Humanity of Hudson County is sponsoring an "Introduction to NJVOAD Network" event next Thursday, December 20 (6pm) at the Hoboken Public Library.


Cathy McCann, president of NJVOAD (New Jersey Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster), will talk about how the VOAD system works in times of disaster and what its overall purpose is, and how she is trying to expand the system in Hudson County. Toni Moen, Voluntary Agency Liaison for FEMA, has been working to facilitate the creation of a Long Term Recovery Committee (LTRC) at the County level, which is being called the "Hudson County Hurricane Relief Committee"; United Way of Hudson County is taking the lead on this effort.Toni will also speak to the audience, which will include Hoboken nonprofit and community service organizations, about the historical role of LTRCs in the wake of natural disasters.
