Educators from University of Florida/IFAS Extension in Pinellas County will be on hand to teach attendees how to create and maintain an attractive and low maintenance yard that conserves water, is friendly to the environment and can save you time and money.

The workshop will begin with an overview of the nine Principles of Florida-Friendly Landscaping™. Then we will focus on three of the principles in more detail:

·         Learn the basic landscape design principles and how to choose the right plants for your successful Florida-Friendly landscape.

·         Understand how to reduce runoff from your yard, how to collect rainwater using rain barrels and rain gardens, and how to become a water-wise gardener.

·         Discover how to turn yard waste into compost and learn what the benefits are.
