Event Details

This workshop is designed for the new user who has solid computer skills and also has used a spreadsheet program.  In this workshop the user will learn what a GIS system is, how to create basic maps and do simple analysis.  This hands on workshop will teach technical skills as well as an understanding of how GIS can be used in subjects requiring a spatial analysis.  The workshop will teach concepts of working with U.S. Census demographical information, taking data in a spreadsheet and mapping it, simple querying of data and working with basemap layers. In addition the participants will learn about raster images and map projections as well as basic geography.  Part 2 of this workshop will be held on June 13th, the two workshops are independent and require separate registrations.

The workshop will be held in Louisville, KY at Jefferson Community and Technical College on the Southwest Campus in the Business Building.
