This presentation introduces Android and iPhone programming at an introductory level. Android uses Eclipse and Java. The iPhone uses XCode and Objective-C and requires a Mac. The structure of the code provided by the SDK and some simple applications will be shown, with references for further study.
Android examples will illustrate designing the user interface, exploring 2D graphics, connecting to the web, and 3D graphics. iPhone examples will include using view controllers, table views, and Core Data.
Professor Art Gittleman, of the Computer Engineering & Computer Science department at California State University at Long Beach, has been teaching the Computer Sciences since 1966. He received his BA, MA, and Ph.D. from UCLA. He is currently teaching programming languages including Clojure, Ruby, and Erlang; and has just completed writing and teaching a new course on Mobile Application Development. He has written several Java and C# textbooks including his new book, Computing with C# and the .NET Framework, Second Edition.
