Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is hugely advantageous when searching for jobs into today’s market. In this class designed for beginners, you’ll receive a basic overview of the interface and controls of Photoshop. Once you’ve gained an understanding of the program, you’ll move on to more intermediate tasks, including combining and layering images, building a promotional banner, and saving for the web. When you’re finished, you’ll feel confident in your ability to navigate Photoshop and ready to take on everything the program has to offer.


  • Understand the Photoshop interface
  • Learn how to import, select, retouch and combine images
  • Use adjustment layers creatively
  • Save images for the web and understand the main file types

This is an introductory course designed for first time and beginning Photoshop users. No prior experience with Photoshop is required for this class.

Students should bring a laptop (Mac preferred) and install a trial copy of Adobe Photoshop CC (earlier versions back to Photoshop CS5 will also be fine). It is recommended students also bring an external mouse.

Bill TribbleDesigner, Musician, and Teacher,

Bill Tribble is a designer, musician, and teacher with a speciality in mixed-media projects. He has over a decade of experience working in design, education, and the sound/music industry. His former clients include National Geographic, Discovery Channel, and Urbis Museum - he has also toured Europe, Asia, and the U.S. as a live musician and as a DJ. Bill has a B.A. in Fine Art Intermedia from Kingston University and a PGCE from Canterbury Christchurch University. He currently lives in Hackney, London, and works as a freelance designer and Design/Music Technology Lecturer for Further Education.
