Intro to Web Design
Thursday March 14, 6-9pm
Led by: Ben Kutil
About This Class
An introduction to the process, concepts, and helpful tools used when designing for the web. We‘ll focus on three main design concepts: typography, page structure, and patterns, while also touching on relevant articles and information impacting the interactive design field currently. These concepts will be expressed directly in the browser, so some very basic knowledge of HTML/CSS is preferred, but not necessary. This class is geared towards people who don’t work on the web at all, developers looking to make an aesthetic impact on their project, or the few people who think I have a great voice.
About the Instructor
Ben Kutil (@benkutil) is a graphic and interactive designer Making Things with ♥ from Baltimore. Originally from Wisconsin, he graduated from MICA in 2000 with a BFA in Graphic Design, concentrations in Video and Book Arts and interned with David Ashton and Pentagram. He started his own independent business, Make Things Studio™, and has had the opportunity to work for local, passionate business owners, larger institutions and some famous people. Mr. Kutil teaches his courses with a focus on interactive design and the business side of design. He also makes really good pizza, loves cast iron, and can do the “brrr” dance routine from “Bring It On” from memory.
