Introduction to Product Development: Roadmaps, MVPs and Wireframes

Saturday, October 27 from 9:00am - 1:00pm

Poornima Vijayashanker, Ex-Engineer at Mint.com, Founder & CEO, BizeeBee

Got an idea and ready to bring it to the market? Want to know what next steps you need to take to go from an idea to building a minimum viable product?

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to take your idea, create features around it, choose the ones that that should make up your minimum viable product, and use that MVP to perform usability tests on potential customers. We’ll also show you how to use Balsamiq, an online tool, to create an actual wireframe mockup of your MVP.

Student Takeaways

1. How to create a product roadmap that aligns with business goals.

2. Understanding the product development process.

3. How to create and communicate product vision through wireframes and user stories.

4. Best practices and tools for managing the product development process.

5. Create and get feedback on a wireframe element of your MVP.

Who should attend this workshop? Founders who are seriously interested in bringing a product to market, but are new to product development. The focus will solely be on internet businesses and software products. Software development or engineering experience is not required.

Prerequisite: Have an idea that you’ve worked on for 1+ months, done market research and competitive analysis, and know who the initial customer you’re targeting is. Do not need to have an MVP or prototype built.

Pre-Class Homework: Sign up and install a free trial version of Balsamiq, and watch this video tutorial. Familiarize yourself with Balsamiq so you are comfortable creating a mockup in class.
