Learn about Arduino and explore many of its artistic applications. An Arduino is an open-source micro-controller with the ability to quickly and easily interface with a variety of sensors, electronics, and software making it a staple of physical computing in artistic applications. We will cover a variety of topics such as basic electronics, hardware sensors, programming in the Arduino language, and what can be done when you combine all of these things.
Requirements: A laptop running OS X, Windows, or Linux with a USB port
Prerequisites: A basic knowledge of programming and/or electronics is
helpful but not necessary. We will start from the beginning.
Setting up the Arduino hardware & software
Basic electronics and making things blink
Basic introduction to the Arduino programming language
Making some basic circuits with a potentiometer
Sensors (switches, knobs, & light sensors)
Controlling software using sensors
Introduction to pulse width modulation (PWM)
Controlling DC & Servo motors with Arduino
Using Arduino with other programs (Processing, Max/MSP, etc.)
Catch up, questions and further applications!
