Internet Advocacy Day on the Hill
Wednesday, February 27, 2013 from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM (EST)
The Internet Infrastructure Coalition (i2Coalition) launched at a significant time in our industry’s history – a time when our input will be critical for shaping the policies and laws that will govern and direct the future of the Internet. In 2011, many of the founding members of i2Coalition began mobilizing to ensure the Internet’s free flow of information and commerce. It was through those efforts that we realized the on-going need for an industry voice.
Without education about our industry, the lack of understanding only promises to bring more unfavorable legislation, like SOPA and PIPA, and endangers the future of Internet freedom as a whole. Providing the platform on which it is based, our industry is especially qualified to educate lawmakers about the fundamentals of the Internet and has a responsibility to do so before we can discuss how it should be regulated. The i2Coalition is proud to announce an exciting educational opportunity and invite you to join us. Please save the date of February 27 for our Internet Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
Join us as i2Coalition Founder, Christian Dawson and members of the i2Coalition provide demonstrations of key components of the industry. Additionally, Senators Jerry Moran (R- KS) and Ron Wyden (D – OR) as well as Alexis Ohanian from Reddit.com will be providing remarks. Lunch will be provided.
