Andrea Pippins is the final speaker in the 2020-21 Interconnected // Design Lecture Series. Her virtual talk is Friday, April 16, 11AM Eastern, hosted by the University of Kentucky School of Art and Visual Studies with support from University of Kentucky’s Gaines Center for the Humanities.

Andrea Pippins is an illustrator and author who has a passion for creating images that reflect what she wants to see in art, media, and design. Her work has been featured in Essence Magazine, The New York Times, and O: The Oprah Magazine. She has produced artwork for brands such as ESPN, Five Below, Instagram, Sephora, Lincoln Center, Malala Fund, Nick Jr., USPS and VH1. Andrea is the author of: I Love My Hair, Becoming Me, and We Inspire Me, and the illustrator of Young Gifted and Black and Step Into Your Power. Andrea is based in Stockholm.

Interconnected — a new design lecture series for the 2020-21 academic year — is a collaboration with the design & art programs at Eastern Kentucky University, Murray State University, Northern Kentucky University, Western Kentucky University, the University of Kentucky, and University of Louisville, in partnership with AIGA Cincinnati, AIGA Louisville, and AIGA Nashville. This year’s focus — Black Voices in Design — aims to diversify and decolonize our pedagogical practices and design curricula.

Each university hosts one speaker for a live, virtual lecture free for interested students, faculty, and professionals in the design community across the region. This line-up features exceptional talent across the field of art and design.
