Join our Chicago community in this experiential training to explore the intention of our listening to one another and to self, leading to enhanced awareness about responsible choice and action. Opening ourselves to humanizing the other is one step in the full listening process. Intentional Listening brings in additional steps introducing us to listening that includes accountability and the potential to respond to what we learn. This approach opens a door to listening through which we embrace mutual values and ethics, leading to support for all parties who may be caught in cycles of violence. This workshop is designed for community leaders engaged in working with diversity, the constructive engagement of conflict, and for those who wish to broaden their awareness and skills in these areas. Together we cultivate insight and skills that enable us to be more effective communicators, change-makers and healers. Join Opening of the Heart's European facilitator Martin Dronsfield, who is recently returned from Bethlehem teaching Compassionate Listening and Essential Peacemaking: Women and Men. Opening of the Heart
Opening of the Heart encourages us to journey to a new space, to see and hear the voices of people whose lives are filled with struggle for human survival. Through this experience, we may come to view those who live thousands of miles away as our neighbors and as members of the same human family. We may also come to understand ourselves in a new and profound way. Our project seeks to replicate this experience of looking through different perspectives, and to provide innovative, accessible, community-based educational tools that magnify the human spirit.
