The Institute of Positive Education

This year marks the 45th Anniversary of the Institute of Positive Education (IPE), the parent company of New Concept School (formerly New Concept Development Center).  IPE was founded in 1969 by Haki Madhubuti (Don L. Lee), Safisha Madhubuti (Carol Lee), and Soyini Walton, three friends with a vision.  IPE is a pioneer in providing a quality African centered education for kindergarten to eighth grade students.  Today, IPE operates four key programs:  New Concept School, Nsoroma Unity After-School Program, Zaidi Summer/camp and Zaide Shule Communities in Schools Program in partnership with the Chicago Public Schools. Using current technology, the arts and models of educational excellence, IPE inspires in our children a passion for learning.
