The Inspiring Emerging Leaders Symposium is a day-long leadership event designed to help identify and develop emerging Latino leaders. This first event, in an ongoing series of events, is an opportunity to bring together mentors and mentees to help create an environment of personal and professional development.

Dr. Judith Valles
Dr. Judith Valles was President of Golden West Community College from 1988 to 1995. She served as interim president of both Coastline College and Oxnard College. After leaving her position as San Bernardino's mayor, she served for three years as President of Los Angeles Mission College.
Judge Jorge C. Hernandez
Jorge C. Hernandez is Superior Court Judge for the County of Riverside. He is currently the Supervising Judge Banning Superior Court. He was appointed to the bench in July 2008. Prior to being elevated to the bench, he was an attorney in private practice in Riverside.
Vanessa Garcia is the Community Affairs Specialist for Telemundo52 Los Angeles, with 10 years of media experience in her native city of Los Angeles. Telemundo Media, a division of NBC Universal, is a world-class media company, leading the industry in the production and distribution of high-quality Spanish-language content across its multiplatform portfolio to U.S. Hispanics and audiences around the world.
Edgar Mejia is Founder and Chief Creative Officer at CONEXION, a back-office management & social media agency for business organization, the entertainment industry, business events, and key Latino CEOs across the U.S.A. As CCO, Edgar oversees the creative process and tactical direction of the company, including key alliances with media networks, government agencies, and Fortune-5000 clients.
Dr. Raul Cardoza
Dr. Raul Cardoza has been a senior administrator for over 30 years at several California community colleges where he held positions such as Vice President of Academic Affairs for 10 years at East Los Angeles College and LA Mission College. He is currently teaching at Cal State Northridge’s doctoral program in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and serving as Vice President of Board Development for the Variety Boys and Girls Club in Los Angeles, CA.
Alex was employed by the Southern California Gas Company and spent 34 years working in that industry. During his career Alex held various supervisory line, staff and functional management positions. After retiring from the gas company Alex joined Jim Potts and Associates as the Director of Training and Development. He also has his own consulting business, Luna Human Resources/Training and Development where he develops specialized programs and seminars for his clients based on their specific needs. Alex has been an adjunct faculty member with the University of Phoenix for the past 13 ½ years. On November 6, 2013 Alex was recognized and awarded with the Faculty of the Year honors.
Mary Figueroa was first elected to the Riverside Community College District Board of Trustees on November 7, 1995, having emerged from a crowded field of 11 candidates and one open seat. Trustee Figueroa was last re-elected by voters in November 2008 and is past president of the Board of Trustees.

In keeping with this tradition, we have collaborated with the Inland Empire Latino Roundtable to develop a series of workshops for the development of leaders in the Inland Empire.
Our Mission: We are a grass roots organization made up of business and educational leaders that is focused on empowering the Latino community. Our purpose is to strengthen and improve the quality of life in the IE communities.
