Here are the abstracts for the presentations:

  • Title: Keynote Presentation: BIGDATA by Helen Sun, Oracle

Abstract: If your organization is like many, you're capturing and sharing more data from more sources than ever before.  As a result, you're facing the challenge of managing high-volume and high-velocity data streams quickly and analytically.  BIG DATA is all about finding a needle of value in a haystack of unstructured information.  Companies are finding value in analyzing consumer behavior, detecting fraud, and even predicting the future!  New supporting IT strategies include data mining, statistics, visualization, and semantics.  But for IT planning and enterprise architecture, it is not about just what is different.  It's also about how to integrate what's new to what you already have - from database-and-BI infrastructure to IT tools, and end user applications.  This is the right time to learn more.  At this Oracle EA Big Data presentation we will discuss big data economics, the impact on your enterprise information architecture, and use cases from data acquisition to analysis.  We'll cover the following topics: 1. Big Data Architecture Characteristics and Requirements, 2. Oracle's End-to-End Integrated Big Data Solution and Platform, 3. Big Data Industry Use Cases, 4. Big Data Architecture Deep Dive

  • Title: Storage Technology Trends for Oracle Database by Richard Lyle, Oracle

Abstract: Oracle Databases support a growing number of applications in today's data centers, and the rapidly growing storage requirements to support them are adding complexity and squeezing out business innovation.  Oracle's portfolio of optimized storage solutions are co-engineered with Oracle Database to deliver unique optimizations that reduce storage footprint, increase performance, streamline backups, and simplify management.  Come learn about these overall trends and how the Sun ZFS Storage Appliance implements 4 areas of optimization to reduce complexity and lower total cost of ownership.

  • Title: Data Protection Solutions for Oracle Database by Richard Lyle, Oracle

Abstract: Oracle Databases manage vast volumes of business critical data, data that enterprises literally cannot live without.  Protecting your Oracle Databases from multiple types of data loss is a key component of an optimized data center that can be easily overlooked or over-specified, resulting in either an elevated risk of data loss or inflated costs.  Come and learn about the data protection challenges in today's optimized data centers and understand how Oracle's storage solutions work together with the rest of the Oracle stack to provide the ultimate, integrated data protection solution for Oracle Databases.

  • Title: Oracle Database Environment Optimization by Brian Dumont, Dewpoint

Abstract: Learn about a strategic new way to analyze the total cost of ownership for your entire Oracle Database environment - not just the software.  During this live demo, Dewpoint will walk through its new TCO application which takes in real-world data about your hardware, software and staffing environment. In turn, it provides a cost benefit analysis for up to five different technology upgrade paths, such as Exadata, Oracle Database Appliance, SPARC T4 and T5 servers, or Intel services running Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL) and Oracle Virtual Machine (OVM).  And for comparison, a "do-nothing" analysis is provided.  Dewpoint's systematic datacenter review methodology will assist you in determining the highest performing and most cost effective architectural direction available today tailored to your organization's needs, given the array of choices.

  • Title: Oracle GoldenGate - Overview, Best Practices and Architecture by Trevor Davies, Oracle

  • Title: WebLogic Server - Introduction and General Concepts by Ramdas Chakkungal and Abhay Kumar, AST Corp

Abstract: Oracle WebLogic Server is a scalable, enterprise-ready Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE) application server.  The WebLogic Server infrastructure supports the deployment of many types of distributed applications and is an ideal foundation for building applications based on Service Oriented Architectures (SOA).  SOA is a design methodology aimed at maximizing the reuse of application services.  This session would cover the details around WebLogic Server:  A.
