Innovation Louisiana 2014 is a new nexus for regional researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, and industry. It offers a forum for education, collaboration, and exchange of ideas on life science technology commercialization and startup development. Join us for a series of panels, seminars, and keynote speeches on various issues that high-growth startups face, from finding venture capital and grant funding to navigating regulatory pathways during product development.
The week will also feature the 3rd Annual BioChallenge. In this business pitch competition, Louisiana life science startups will compete in front of a panel of investors and industry experts for a chance to win cash and services prize packages worth over $25,000.

Dr. Coufal is co-founder of the private venture firm, Sibling Capital. Prior to this engagement, Dr. Coufal founded Relypsa’s Scientific Advisory Board and co-founded Ilypsa’s Scientific Advisory Board. For the past 13 years, she has been the Biomedical Advisor for the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation and continues in this role. For the past 2 years, Dr. Coufal has been Treasurer of the Managing Board of biotech startup MiniVax and on the Advisory Board of alternative fuel startup ReactWell. Most recently, Dr. Coufal has been a Founder of Tricida, Inc., as well as its Interim Chairperson and permanent Member of the Board of Directors. Over the past year, Dr. Coufal has been a major investor in the series A funding for Tricida through Sibling Capital.
Nina Tandon is on the cutting edge of science: where sci-fi meets reality. She works on growing artificial hearts and bones that can be put into the body, and studies the new frontier of biotech: homes, textiles, and videogames made of cells. Currently, she is CEO and co-founder of EpiBone, the world’s first company growing living human bones for skeletal reconstruction. Profiled in Wired and named one of Fast Company's Most Creative People in Business, she speaks on the future of healthcare and technology, and biology's new industrial revolution.
