Mike Zuckerman
[Freespace] Co-founder,
UIX Global Creative Director

Coming off of tremendous national and international attention for his work as the co-founder of [Freespace], Mike considers himself a "Culture Hacker" continuing to push the boundaries of shared economy models and their impact on the development of innovation ecosystems; energizing sustainable development efforts and supporting grass roots community development. Mike's other projects include acting as a key team member for Yerdle, helping to launch the first sutainable nightclub in America, prototyping experimental community engagement spaces in Africa and Haiti, and working to green the global entertainment industry.

Mike's latest [Freespace] venture is a month-long experiment to cultivate civic hacks. It is hosted in a 14,000 square foot warehouse at 1131 Mission Street in San Francisco's Central Market District. Through the gift of a temporary, underutilized physical space, [Freespace] fosters creativity, community and civic innovation. At the beginning of the evening, Mike will be say a few words about his groundbreaking work as well as his future plans for continuing to stay at the forefront of the emerging shared economy, disrupting traditional property ownership and community participation models.  Learn More

Featured Chef:
Hiroo Nagahara

Chef Hiroo Nagahara is the culinary mastermind behind the Chairman food truck and founder of the HN2 Pop-Up Restaurant. He was formerly restaurateur Charlie Trotter's executive chef at Bar Charlie in Las Vegas and partnered with Mobi Munch to bring his food to the masses. As Chef Hiroo explains, "Mobi Munch challenged me to blur the lines between brick-and-mortars and the food truck scene. We wanted to see how far we could push street food using techniques from high-end restaurants and The Chairman was my first concept.

Hiroo draws from his years of culinary experience and a physics background, inventing cutting-edge culinary techniques, and constantly pushing the boundaries of gastronomy to develop what he calls Nature Driven Modernist Cuisine. Chef Hiroo describes his style as modern kaiseki - scenic, ingredient driven cuisine in which every dish has a story - and is driven by the challenge of taking an ingredient of the highest quality from Mother Nature and transforming it into something greater without destroying its purity. It is essential to execute flavor, texture, and aesthetics at the same time - Chef Hiroo's cuisine is intended to constantly capture and engage one's entire sensory experience. His desire to remain on the cutting edge of high-end gastronomy has led Hiroo to pursue internships under the world's greatest chefs in preparation for the launching of a restaurant all his own. Learn More
