Our monthly meeting will be held at the Microsoft Greater PA Office in Malvern, PA on Wednesday, January 16 from 5:30-8:00. Refreshments are provided courtesy of Infragistics.

Jason Beres

Taking inspirational cues from Bauhaus design, International Typographic Style, and cinematography, the Windows 8 UI design style brings an application to life while presenting content clearly and beautifully. In this session, you will be introduced to the principles behind this design style and learn how to effectively apply these principles in your applications.

Brent is a software developer who has been working with Microsoft technologies since 2004. His interests include client and mobile application development and user experience design with a recent emphasis on Windows 8 and Windows Phone. Other platforms he has worked with include WPF, Silverlight, Windows Forms, and iOS. He is an Evangelist working for Infragistics with a focus on mobile platforms. He has a passion for making people’s experiences with software the best that they can possibly be.

Before you start building applications for the Windows Store using WinJS, there are some important areas that you need to know about to ensure a successful app. In this talk, you’ll learn what considerations you should take when building Windows RT apps, what frameworks and toolkits are available to you, and 10 areas that you should think about when designing and building your next WinJS application.

Jason Beres spearheads customer-driven, innovative features and functionality throughout all of Infragistics' products. Jason is a Microsoft .NET MVP, INETA Speakers Bureau member, and previous INETA board member and chairman of INETA’s Academic Committee. Jason is one of the founders of Florida .NET User Groups, he is the founder of the Central New Jersey .NET User Group, and he is in his 10th straight year as a Microsoft MVP. Jason is the author of several books on .NET development, covering topics like SQL Server, C#, Visual Basic .NET and most recently Silverlight development. Jason is a national and international conference speaker and keeps very active in the .NET community.

It’s an exciting time to be a developer with the launch of Microsoft Windows 8 and the dozens of new tablet (touch) devices such as Microsoft Surface. Come learn about how to use Microsoft new WInJS Framework to build HTML 5 based Windows 8 application. The focus of this talk will be on the fundamentals of using the WinJS Framework, how to integrated REST based services, and tap into local resources and services provided by the Windows 8 OS.

Todd Snyder provides technical guidance and leadership for the development of enterprise class systems on the Microsoft platform. At Infragistics, he is a principal consultant that focuses on the design and construction of RIA, mobile and n-tier based applications. Todd is the co-leader for the New Jersey .NET User Group, http://www.njdotnet.net/, and is a frequent speaker at trade shows, code camps, and Firestarters
