This spring we are bringing you a smorgasbord of good films, a feast of thought-provoking cinema, with a line-up that is finger-licking good. The 2013 Spring Film Series will present the latest and greatest of food-centric film.
We are kicking off the Series with TOAST on March 13.
The story of a boy’s hunger.
TOAST tells the autobiographical story of British food critic, Nigel Slater. Slater’s (Freddie Highmore) love of food started at a young age when his mother’s only culinary success was toast. At her untimely death, Nigel’s distant father hires the ‘common’ Joan Potter (Helena Bonham Carter) to be the Slaters’ housekeeper. Soon Joan works her way into the family and becomes Nigel’s unwanted stepmother. The division between the two grows even deeper with their shared love (and rivalry) of great cuisine. Toast is a coming of age story in 1960s Britain.
