Encompassing many styles under the umbrella of music, Chicago’s resident Art Rocker Sonny Apollo will present his LA debut show, “Indigo Child” August 1st.
After teasing his debut solo effort since the summer of 2013, when he would release his promotional single “Die Young” to unexpected international attention and acclaim- steady airplay in Brazil, France, Australia, and Estonia- Apollo takes listeners on what he says is an “aural excursion” in which at the core, according to Sonny is a “rebirth.” Sonny’s debut effort varies in themes of Psychadelia (“Imagine Me”), to self-reliance (“Crocodile Tears”), and abuse (“You Could Do Better”).
Sonny Apollo endorsed by Jimmy Butler of the Chicago Bulls as "The Special One" and Craig White -of The Sound of Philadelphia fame with Gamble and Huff in the 70’s and 80’s- as “A Young Maurice White” is a singer, songwriter, composer, producer, arranger, bandleader, and pianist. Ranging in influences of Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Aerosmith, David Bowie, Tina Turner, and Alicia Keys, Sonny channels his influences into a project that earns him the distinction of being a craftsman. Reviewers of Sonny’s music have held his output to acclaim and noted that he carries the torch of Blues and Rock making them accessible to a new generation, while also comparing him favorably to Lenny Kravitz.
Indigo Child will be supported by Sonny’s backing band VOYAGER. The limited engagement series will hit Los Angeles at the famed playground of The Doors, among other classic rock groups, The Whiskey A Go-Go. Sonny has built a steady reputation for his live shows which blend his love for the visual, the theatrical, and the sonic.
