This panel will discuss the challenges and remedies associate with sheltering pets during disasters. Panelists will address issues including best practices, lessons learned, and issues around large animals in disasters.
12:00 to 1:00p Lunch and Networking
Attendees are encouraged to bring materials from their organization to provide to other participants.
1:00 to 2:30p Breakout Sessions
Preparedness for the Elderly and Homebound
Panelists will discuss resources and considerations for preparing the elderly, homebound, and others with disabilities and access and functional needs for disasters.
Panelists will discuss issues and considerations for effective donations management. This includes how to effectively work with the public and organizations to ensure donations meet the needs of survivors.
2:30 to 2:45p Breakout Sessions
Rural Area and Limited Resources Preparedness, Response & Recovery
Panelists will discuss preparedness, response, and recovery issues for rural areas and jurisdictions with limited resources. This includes lessons learned from 2012 disaster activities in the State of Indiana.
Faith Based Response and Recovery
Panelists will discuss the role faith based organizations can play in response and recovery. This includes how faith based organizations can get involved in response and recovery operations.
