As you walk into the class, you’ll be greeted with some hot chai.
We'll begin by preparing our appetizer, the Savory Upma. Upma is cream of wheat - we'll make this appetizer from scratch using fresh herbs and spices. This healthy and mouth-watering dish will be ready in no time! After eating the Savory Upma and replenishing our energy, we'll dive right into cooking the two main courses.
One of the main courses of the night will be a chicken curry in a thick, nutty gravy. You may find versions of this curry at restaurants; those versions have cream in them. I’ll teach you a healthy recipe that won’t use cream and will taste better! We’ll prepare this dish from scratch using high quality chicken, fresh spices, and herbs. Nothing out of a can or package – nothing preserved at all. You’ll learn to make the gravy base from scratch rather than using a curry powder or paste.
We’ll pair our awesome chicken curry with Polao. Indian cuisine uses a few different types of rice for various dishes - one of them is Basmati rice. It is a long grain rice that is used to prepare fancy rice dishes. Polao is one of those dishes; it is made for special occasions and it goes well with rich curry gravy. We’ll be preparing Polao with green peas in this class using Basmati rice that has been aged to perfection!
