Inaugural William Neal Brown Endowed Lecture

Rabbi Joshua Chasan, Ohavi Zedek Synagogue of Burlington, VT, will present
"Dr. William Neal Brown: Exemplar of the Integrity of Integration"
Joshua Chasan has served as rabbi of Ohavi Zedek Synagogue since 1991. He was educated as an American historian at the University of Pittsburgh, from which he received a doctorate in 1974. He studied at Yale Divinity School and The Jewish Theological Seminary from which he was ordained as rabbi in 1987.
Since coming to Vermont, he has served on a variety of non-profit boards, and chaired the Commission on Childhood Poverty established by Vermont’s state legislature in the mid-1990s. Amongst the founders of Vermont Interfaith Action, a congregational-based community organization, he also has served on the boards of Kids4Peace-USA and Kids4Peace Vermont, camping programs for young Muslims, Christians and Jews from Israel and Palestine and various communities around the United States.
He is married to Katharine Chasan and is father of Cavan, 36, Zev, 21, and Ari, 18.
Rabbi Chasan and Dr. Brown were friends during the last part of Dr. Brown’s life.
