Friday, September 5, 2014 from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM (MST)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
The Arizona Department of Education Health and Nutrition Conference brings together early childhood educators, school and community leaders to collaboratively share Coordinated School Health approaches and other successful strategies in creating a healthier community. This is a strategy recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that brings together the resources of families, schools, and communities to help youth develop healthy habits and make the most of their educational opportunities.
A healthy learning environment provides: nursing and other health services that children and students of all ages need to stay happy, healthy and focused. By offering nutritious and appealing meals, opportunities for physical activity that include physical education, health education that covers a range of developmentally appropriate topics taught by knowledgeable teachers, programs that promote the health of faculty and staff, and counseling, psychological and social services that promote healthy social and emotional development and remove barriers to learning.
The Health and Nutrition Conference will provide a systematic process to strengthen the professional knowledge, skills and attitudes of those who serve youth to improve their health, education, and well-being. Additionally, this conference will provide an opportunity to stay on the cutting edge of research and professional practice by participating in sessions that relate to your field of expertise. The information gained from this conference will allow participants to come away with innovative ideas to apply new skills and knowledge in their field.
