Event Details

bear by iceAfter 18 months in the arctic enduring subfreezing temperatures, camping in polar bear habitats, and diving beneath icebergs, Florian Schulz returned with a stunning collection of extraordinary photographs and fascinating stories that reveal an arctic environment few have ever seen.  The pictures and his personal accounts are chronicled in the 2011 book To The Arctic and in the IMAX 3D film of the same name, currently showing at the Smithsonian’s Natural History Museum in Washington, DC.

At this exclusive event to benefit the International League of Conservation Photographers, Schulz will share some of his personal anecdotes and present photographs from his arctic collection in an engaging talk that has received high praise from U.S. and European audiences alike.  This is the first time this presentation is being offered in Washington D.C.  It will be followed by a book signing.

The International League of Conservation Photographers is a 501(c)3 charitable organization whose mission is to further environmental and cultural conservation through photography.

iLCP was established in 2005 with the simple goal of enlisting the skills and expertise of some of the world's best photographers to advance conservation efforts around the globe. We are a project-driven organization that partners with leading scientists, policy makers, government leaders and conservation groups to produce the highest-quality documentary images of both the beauty and wonder of the natural world and the challenges facing it.

Today, iLCP is a prestigious Fellowship whose reach has expanded to address the communications challenges of the conservation community at large.

From expeditions to exhibitions, from our Speaker's Bureau to our extensive library of images ready for licensing to conservation minded organizations, iLCP continuously strives to use the power of photography to save and protect our world's precious places and species.
