Description
301: Organic and Game-Driven Scenework
IMPROV 301 dives head-first into open scenework. Showcasing IB’s two primary scenic approaches, faculty take students on a journey through the world of organic and game-driven scenework. Organic Scenes foster exploration, group mind and the beginning elements of “long-form” improv as students create multiple scenes from a single point of inspiration. Game Scenes allow students to discover inherent structure, find focused heightening and learn a “follow the funny” technique that becomes an essential part of every IB improviser’s toolbox. 301 also covers editing skills, explores pacing and introduces important support tools such as tag-outs, walk-ons and split-scenes. Graduates of 301 can improvise open scenes with confidence and are ready for long-form.
