Implementation Science: Moving Forward

May 23rd and 24th, 2012

North Campus Research Complex (NCRC)

Ann Arbor, MI

Purpose: This conference is designed to foster discussions among various disciplines to address the science of implementation in healthcare.

Conference objectives:

·         to facilitate growth in implementation science through communication and networking among various disciplines,

·         to discuss issues in implementation science and strategies for moving the field forward, and

·         to begin development of a platform for interdisciplinary training of investigators in implementation science.

Implementation is the use of strategies to adopt, integrate and use evidence-based   health interventions and to change practice patterns within specific settings. Research on implementation addresses the extent to which health interventions fit   within real-world public health and clinical service systems. Implementation studies, can address whether health interventions, once implemented, are sustained in regular, on-going practice and whether they are responsible for public health changes through methods such as impact evaluation.
