Seminar Detailed Overview
Forward thinking organizations understand the value of innovative auditors. However, developing cutting-edge innovation and design-thinking skills can be challenging. Local companies and non-profits now have the opportunity to develop these progressive skills within their audit workforce. IIA/ISACA are collaborating with experienced innovation practitioners to bring you a training event based on the Stanford Design School's Executive Innovation Boot Camp. This is an intensive, hands-on introduction to the latest concepts in design thinking with the goal of:
- Preparing auditors to become future innovators through breakthrough thinking and activities.
- Using design thinking to inspire multi-disciplinary teams which can be leveraged to identify effectiverecommendations.
- Fostering radical collaboration between Internal Audit and the Auditee/Audit Client.
- Tackling big audit and non-audit projects using prototyping to discover new approaches and solutions.
The event will include three sessions:
Session A – Innovation Methodology
- Understanding the Client
- Requirements Gathering/Scoping
Session B – Innovation from an Audit Perspective
- Deconstructing Critical Thinking Concepts and Methodology
- Applying Design Thinking Methods to the Audit Process
- Presenting Innovative Results

The Memphis Chapters of the IIA and ISACA
The Memphis Chapter of the IIA is a very diverse chapter with over 430 members in more than 86 Corporations and 10 government agencies. The IIA is the internal audit profession's global voice, recognized authority, acknowledged leader, chief advocate, and principal educator. Generally, members work in internal auditing, risk management, governance, internal control, information technology audit, education, and security. We offer monthly training classes from September to May each year, with additional full day and half day seminars to provide many training opportunities. The Memphis Chapter also hosts an Annual Student Day meeting that features a Chief Audit Executive Roundtable to help students learn more about the profession and what employers are looking for in internal audit candidates.
The Memphis Chapter of ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association) is dedicated to providing our members with enriching educational events, ensuring an environment for resource sharing and the exchange of ideas, and opportunities for professional networking. Since its inception, ISACA has become a pace-setting global organization for information governance, control, security and audit professionals. Its IS auditing and IS control standards are followed by practitioners worldwide. Its research pinpoints professional issues challenging its constituents.
