Speaker: Jeff Guy QA Lead for Project Spark

I’m one of the QA Leads for Project Spark. I grew up in a military family so I grew up in many places in the US and a few abroad. As is the tale with many of us, when I was growing up video games were my life. I knew I wanted to make games the moment I laid my hands on my NES. I loved my Atari but Nintendo inspired me J

I started my career working on the Xbox kernel team about eleven years ago as a tester. While there I also worked in Design and Production roles before making the transition to games by returning to a QA role for Zipper, a game studio responsible for the Socom franchise. Around the release of the third Socom I landed where I work today: Microsoft Games Studios.

I’ve been shipping games ever since, working on titles such as Fable 3 and Halo 4. While I’m a hardcore gamer, Project Spark thus far is the most fun and challenging title I’ve worked on.

Project Spark is a video game that makes video games. Team Dakota set out on the path to create a set of tools that would enable the sleeping game designer in all of us to awaken. We’ve come a long way, and seen absolutely amazing games created by our Community throughout our beta. Project Spark is built to not only help you build games, but to network a community of gamers and game designers so that they can work collaboratively on big projects as well as play and give feedback to one another. The vision for Project Spark is ambitious, but lucky for us our Community has proven to be more so.
