If You Build It, They Will Come: Launch Your Book With Low-Cost Community Building and On Line Marketing Initiatives with Kellie Cellia, Marketing Communications Manager, Publishing, Walden Media/Walden Pond Press
It's no secret: authors are increasingly expected to carry the weight of their books’ promotional efforts. But a full-fledged marketing campaign can run into thousands of dollars and more, leaving few options for those with smaller budgets. That said, community building and social media offer effective ways for authors to build buzz and promote themselves and their books inexpensively and efficiently. In this workshop, learn how to establish relationships with book bloggers and tastemakers, utilize social networks to build buzz, and create your own online marketing campaigns.
Kellie Celia has worked in a marketing and editorial capacity for the publishing arm of film production company Walden Media for the past seven years. Notable book buzz-building campaigns on which Kellie has worked include Breadcrumbs by Anne Ursu, Platypus Police Squad by Jarrett J. Krosoczka, The Fourth Stall by Chris Rylander, The Hero’s Guide to Saving Your Kingdom by Christopher Healy, the Guys Read series edited by Jon Scieszka, and Newbery-Honor winning Savvy by Ingrid Law.
