Whether you are new to IELTS or have been working with IELTS for a number of years – this free, participative and essential seminar is for you. As well as offering an opportunity to network with colleagues at other institutions in your area, the day will include the following series of interactive presentations:

An overview of the IELTS test - Including test history, availability, format, content and (web) resources

Test Validity & Reliability: Delivered by a representative of Cambridge English Language Assessment

Standard Setting: A chance to see what the band scores really mean in terms of student performance

Security: This covers many aspects of IELTS securty including the chance to examine counterfeit documentation and to be introduced to the vital IELTS Test Report Form verification service.

UKVI changes - an update on the current situation with regard to these changes

Members of the IELTS team from the British Council and Cambridge English Language Assessment will be present and you will be able to discuss your situation with them and network with other delegates during breaks.

The seminar is aimed at all our main stakeholder groups (higher education institutions, professional registration bodies, immigration authorities and large employers who use IELTS). For higher education institutions, staff involved in; admissions, compliance, international, faculty and the English language unit will benefit most.

The seminar is free of charge and includes lunch and refreshments. Registration will be from 09:30 until 10:00 and the seminar will finish at 15:30.

Please note that these seminars are not open to students, prospective IELTS candidates or IELTS preparation class teachers. We have a separate series of workshops for these groups (see: www.takeielts.britishcouncil.org/teach-ielts/ielts-teacher-workshop).
