“Pebble” the Smartwatch – a wearable computing platform for mobile app developer
Abstract: Wearable computing is the next exciting market after the success of smartphones and tablets. Pebble is designed to be customizable, with downloadable watchfaces and useful internet-connected apps. Pebble connects to iPhone and Android smartphones using Bluetooth, alerting you with a silent vibration to incoming calls, emails and messages. It features a 144×168 1-bit display, a 3-axis accelerometer and a Cortex-M3 ARM microprocessor. Pebble can be customized by installing new apps developed with its Software Development Kit. The SDK allows developers of all experience levels to build Pebble-enabled applications using a number of popular programming languages and technologies.
Bio: Eric Migicovsky is the founder of Pebble Technology, made famous by the recent runaway Kickstarter success of the Pebble smartwatch, the most successful crowdfunding project ever. Pebble raised a record-breaking $10 million from 69,000 people on Kickstarter. Prior to Pebble, Eric graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor in Systems Design Engineering.
