ICS 200 is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident or event within the Incident Command System (ICS). ICS-200 provides training on and resources for personnel who are likely to assume a supervisory position within the ICS.
The Emergency Management Institute developed ICS its ICS courses collaboratively with:
- National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG)
- U.S. Department of Agriculture
- United State Fire Administration’s National Fire Programs Branch
Note: IS-200.b is an updated version of the IS-200 course. If you have successfully completed IS-200 or IS-200.a, you may want to review the new version of the course. For credentialing purposes, the courses are equivalent.
Persons involved with emergency planning, response or recovery efforts.
This course is NIMS compliant and meets the NIMS Baseline Training requirements for IS-200.
- IS-100 Introduction to the Incident Command System is required.
- Completion of IS 700.A, National Incident Management System (NIMS), An Introduction is recommended.

As a part of local county govermment, The Office of Emergency Management is a division within the Department of Fire and Rescue for Prince William County Government, VA. The instructor for these Eventbrite course offerings is Joel Hendelman, the NIMS (National Incident Management System) Compliance Officer for Prince William County VA., within the Office of Emergency Management.
The focus is to prepare local government employees, non-governmental organizational members and stakeholders/private contractor personnel who engage in natural/man-made incident response or significant planned events to be effecient and effective in serving the community and themselves as it relates to life safety, incident stabilization and property conservation through exceptional incident management known as the Incident Command System.
The Office of Emergency Management is responsible for:
- The Emergency Operations Plan
- The Continuity of Operations Plan
- Maintaining and Managing the Emergency Operations Center
- Working with the PWC Policy Group during times of natural/man-made disasters or significant planned events.
- Providing coordination and support to PWC agencies involved in field based operations serving the local community during significant incident response or planned events.
- Directing initial emergency notifications to the public and local government agency personnel.
- Ensuring all local government incident response agencies, non-governmental organizations and stakeholders/private contractors are educated, trained and possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to serve the residential and business communities within PWC when needed.
