Event Details

Please join us at the School of Visual Arts' new space in the Flatiron District for New York's Iconathon! Held in collaboration between Code for America & The Noun Project, NY's event will focus on designing new public domain symbols for Transportation.

Iconathon will begin with insightful presentations from the following speakers: Designing for Public Space - Jake Barton, Local Projects Founder and Principal.  Transportation - Adam Greenfield, Urbanscale Managing Director and Frank Hebbert, OpenPlans Director of Civic Works. Symbol Design: Matias Corea, Behance Co-Founder and Design Chief.  After a quick lunch we will host design charrettes where designers, urban planners, developers, and anyone who is passionate about civic design will brainstorm and sketch symbols that visually represent concepts frequently needed in civic design.  More details available at Iconathon.org.

Expect brilliant creative energy with amazing talented people!

Who Should Attend

If you have a passion for bringing new civic symbols into the world, giving back to your city and being creative and collaborative with others - you should come to this Iconathon.

We are inviting designers, design students, city employees, people from various organizations, professors, developers, cartographers and others.

This is a design & drawing focused event. However it is not necessary that you be a skilled artist to attend (check out blog post "But I can't Draw!").
