Ever wonder what's happening behind the scenes of the load and energy calculation software we use? Join us on September 30th to find out!


Dru Crawley, Ph.D., the "Father of EnergyPlus," comes to Los Angeles to shed some light on the infamous "black box" of energy simulation.


Location: Arup, 12777 West Jefferson Blvd., Suite 100, Los Angeles, CA 90066

Parking: Free parking lot on-site


6:00pm: Social Hour 
7:00pm: Welcome & Introduction
7:15pm: Presentation by Dru Crawley
8:15pm: Adjourn

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Crawley leads the team developing building performance software at Bentley Systems, including AECOsim Energy Simulator, a graphic interface for the U.S. Department of Energy’s EnergyPlus building simulation program. 


Prior to joining Bentley in 2010, Dr. Crawley lead the US Department of Energy’s Commercial Buildings Initiative and the development of EnergyPlus and other energy software.


With more than 30 years of experience in buildings energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainability, he has worked in software development, government research and standards development organizations, as well as building design and consulting companies. He has a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, a Bachelor of Architecture, and is a registered architect.


He is active in ASHRAE, AIA, IBPSA, USGBC, and serves on the editorial boards of three international Journals. He has written more than 125 papers and articles, testified before the U.S. Congress, lectured at more than 20 universities, and made more than 400 presentations on building energy efficiency, sustainability, and renewable energy topics throughout the world.   


Cost: $10 for general attendee; $5 for students (with valid ".edu" email address)

Ticket prices will go up by $5 one week before the event.
