Presented by Kelly Strayhorn Theater
Gabrielle Revlock and Nicole Binder make dances with and for audiences that transcend the border between audience and stage. Their work is fiercely feminist, wild, and genre-defying. They have performed their collaborative work in Philadelphia, New York, Washington D.C., and Seattle. Their dances have been supported by The Pew Center for Arts and Heritage, FringeArts, and The A.W.A.R.D. Show!
I made this for you challenges notions of competition and conventional forms of beauty with biting wit and playful commentary. Gabrielle and Nicole call on 25 Pittsburgh performers and others who like to perform to join their process and perform on the main stage. Folks with unique talents, professional arts training, or wacky skills are encouraged to join the fun. The piece is inclusive, and adaptable—a living, breathing work that changes with every performance. The core values of the work remain durable in the midst of these varying casts: challenging competition in the performing arts, specifically among women.
